Rooms are alittle small, but they still have everything you need, as for the building it definitely has character and charm due to its age. With regards to the staff, they were so friendly, inviting and helpful, which made the visit a real pleasure.
Staff are amazing, polite and attentive .Food very good. Stayed in family room as other rooms occupied ..clean room, with soaps and toiletries supplied. Will recommend and return as hotel offered good bed and breakfast and we also booked for Sunday lunch amazing and good value.. free car parking … best recommendation for us was staff very impressed will return ty Crown Hotel
The most wonderful local pub and hotel ever !! Fabulous welcoming staff. Great friendly locals. We couldn't ask for more ....they serve great Sunday lunch and look after their patrons ., escorting the elderly home , welcoming friendly dogs and families with children. This is the kind of establishment that that we need for communities and visitors.
Family of 6 including myself stayed here for the first time this weekend for a family birthday get together nearby. The building is so quaint and traditional and well maintained. The character and quirks absolutely added to its charm. Rooms were clean and comfortable with all toiletry and tea/ coffee making facilities. They placed a new fan in each room knowing it’s very hot weather wise atm. The cooked breakfast in the morning was FANTASTIC and with ‘proper’ thick butchers style bacon and sausage. Good old fashioned thick fried bread too! Set us up for the day! You’re welcomed on arrival and they sort the parking out for you right away. They insist on helping to carry your luggage which was very kind. Friendly and chatty were the staff and they went the extra mile to help you, make recommendations for you / local info etc. we saw some late arrivals one night to check into the hotel just before closing time at the bar and the chap couldn’t have been more obliging and gave his parking space to the couple before eventually going home for the night. Highly recommend for friendly and traditional welcome and fare! Central location just perfect.
Lovely hotel in the centre of Downham Market, parking available, large warm and cosy rooms, comfortable beds. Great open fire in the bar. Great breakfast. Not the greatest of views from our room and as with any old building the stairs are steep and floors a little uneven.
